In September 2005 the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) issued the standard ISO 22000:2005 Food safety management systems - Requirements for any organization in the food chain. The standard assembles an internationally harmonized network of requirements applied to food safety.
The standard was developed under ISO leadership, involving experts in the food industry, incl. representatives of specialized international organizations, and working closely with the Codex Alimentarius Commission, an organization set up by the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and the World Health Organization (WHO).
The principal advantage of ISO 22000 lies in the simplification of HACCP across the world. ISO 22000 is applicable by all of the organizations in the food chain. ISO 22000 encompasses HACCP principles as well as requirements of other key standards related to food safety. Requirements of ISO 9001 have also been considered. In conclusion, ISO 22000 combines the principles of food safety, self-checking, and quality management.
It is our pleasure to announce that at AS Läätsa Kalatööstus we monitor and develop food safety in adherence to ISO 22000 standard.
On July 25, 2017 AS Läätsa Kalatööstus was issued a certificate of food safety management systems under ISO 22000:2005 standard.
